1279: Synagogue was rebuilt under Ustad (五思达)

The synagogue was rebuilt (重建古刹清真寺) in 1279, during the reign of Kublai Khan (忽必烈, reign 1260–1294). Ustad, the religious teacher of the community, spearheaded and managed the project. The synagogue was located at the southeast of the Earth Market Character Street (土市字街).

Incidentally, 1279 was when the Song Dynasty's last emperor drowned, ending Chinese resistance towards the ruling Mongolians.
